A perfect day for washing

I'm always on the lookout for decent washing powders.

I wash everything at 40 degrees and most of the time the branded washing powders hardly shift the everyday marks my children seem to gather, which is why I was intrigued to find these Ecoballs in the Lakeland catalogue (http://www.lakeland.co.uk/):

I must admit I bought them because I didn't think they could be any worse than what I have been using and given the price per wash they were going to work out a lot cheaper (and greener) than my normal brand.

I didn't break them in gently in fact their first outing included a mass of filthy washing, stained with chocolate, grass and mud. I used the stain remover provided on the worst of the marks and just chucked the balls in and really didn't anticipate much.

Amazingly (and yes I was totally shocked) the washing came out of the machine totally clean and I was hard pushed to find any stains or marks on any of the clothing. the only difference being that there was no obvious smell of the artificial fragrance in most washing powders.

I've been using the ecoballs for a while now and yes I am still really pleased with them and my little one's mild eczema has cleared up completely (I can't guarantee that it was the washballs that did it but it cleared immediately after I started using them) and all in all I don't dread doing the washing now, especially on a dry, warm, windy day like today.
