The Vegetable Beginning

I've been growing my own veg (on a small scale) for a year now but this year I have access to an allotment! I also have a small, plastic greenhouse in my (tiny) garden. So far I have growing -

On windowsills...
  • Tomatoes (Cherry, Beefsteak and Matinas)
  • Cucumbers (5 dwarf variety)
  • Courgette (9 plants)
  • Aubergine
  • Sweetcorn (15 plants)
  • Pumpkin (planted by the children for Halloween)
  • Chillis (both Jalepeno and Cayenne)
  • Salad
  • Herbs (basil, chives, corainder, lemon balm)
  • Marigolds (for companion planting)

In the Greenhouse

  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Cauliflower
  • Cabbage (red and greyhound)
  • Globe Artichoke
  • salad
  • Sugar Snaps, Peas and Dwarf French Beans
  • Leeks

At the Allotment

  • Potatoes (Red Duke of York, Maris Peer)
  • Broad Beans
  • Sugar Snaps, Peas
  • shallots, red onions
  • beetroot (1 row), parsnip (1 row)

And after all that I still have more to plant -

  • Purple Sprouting Broccoli
  • More Lettuce, Rocket and Pak Choi
  • Sunflowers (the children are going to plant)
  • Potatoes (Rooster and Maris Piper)
  • More Peas and Beans (to get a continous supply?)
  • Nasturtiums (for garden and companion planting)
  • Allotment - Carrots, Parsnip, Beetroot, Onions

I know this sounds a lot and is probably way too much but I really want to grow as much of our food as possible this year plus we are also sharing our harvest with my parents so this crops is for 4 adults and 2 children. It's probably still way too much! but this year is very much an experiment.
