I thought I was being pro-active this year. I put down my slug traps, did a bit of research and found that coffee grouts were good at deterring the little pests, so duly put around each plant and still they munch my broad beans! I even had a couple of plants with cloches on (halved plastic bottles) and I still found bite marks on the leaves. The slug traps are catching lots of slugs but maybe I need more ? I am really reluctant to resort to slug pellets but the way things are it may have to be a drastic last resort!

you could try spraying the plants with washing up water daily, slugs don't seem to like the taste it leaves or salt, they won't coss salt as it hurts them.
Nice blog by the way, and thanks for reading mine.
Thank you for the tips. I will definately give those a go before resorting to the dreaded slug pellets.
